When you think of summer, what comes to mind?
You’re active outside.
…Well at least as long as the weather doesn’t get too hot anyway.
But you certainly think of walking, hiking, running, swimming, or maybe just running around like a maniac with your kids.
Or maybe you just want to protect yourself from the sun.
You probably don’t think of the top supplements you could use to enjoy your summer a little more.
But here’s a few – and why you’d enjoy taking them:
1. Vitamin B12 and CoQ10 for More Energy
The warmer, muggier weather in the summer naturally makes you feel more sluggish. Some days, you may even feel like a sloth.
Avoid caffeine.
It leads to crashes, increased anxiety, insomnia, irritability, and an upset stomach. Caffeine is actually a less intense kind of drug.
It’s not totally bad. But it certainly has many negative consequences you don’t experience with CoQ10 or vitamin B12.
If you simply must have caffeine, keep it to just a couple of caffeinated drinks daily at most.
2. Fermented Cod Liver Oil Protects You from the Sun
This supplement comes loaded with vitamins A and D. Vitamin A protects you from skin cancer, and undoubtedly reduces signs of aging (in contrast to many supplements which simply make this unsupported claim). It works actively to repair skin damage caused by the sun.
Vitamin D works to prevent abnormal cell growth. And it actually gets formed when the sun shines on your skin.
To get the right amount of vitamin D from the sun, you need to go outside in the midday sun in shorts and a tank top – without any sunscreen. And you need to do this for 10 minutes.
And even if you are outdoors, you have sunblock on or stand in the shade.
And as you know, just getting outside in the midday sun for 10 minutes isn’t always possible.
Take around 10 mcg daily (400 IU) to keep your skin healthy.
3. Glutamine Reduces Muscle Fatigue and Gives You a Physical Burst
Typically, those who like intense workouts make glutamine an indispensable supplement. However, if you’re simply planning a fair amount of physical activity for the day, you can add glutamine to your diet.
It helps you build lean muscle, while also minimizing fat gain and maximizing fat loss. For an average person, simply take 1-5 grams daily.
If you want to add serious muscle, pump that up to 10-15 grams.
Taking too much rarely causes issues. But if you notice unusual nausea, dry mouth, a skin rash, swelling in your hands or feet, or muscle or joint pain, back off on your dosage.
With these supplements, you can have fun in the sun by yourself – or with your family – and not worry about any serious side-effects.
