The word “organic” implies you get something healthy, natural, and better than traditional artificially-made hair products.
But, is that really the case?
Or, do companies simply spread that propaganda to get you to buy more and at higher prices?
What You Don’t Know About Artificial Shampoo Can Hurt You
While traditional shampoos feel good and smell even better, their chemicals can actually cause harm to you.
They can include sulfate, alcohol, silicone, parabens, antifreeze (yes, the same stuff as in your car), diethanolamine (DEA), triethanolamine (TEA), dimethicone, formaldehyde (the same chemical used to preserve dead bodies), and siloxanes.
The FDA began tracking health-related problems caused by shampoo and makeup over a decade ago. The complaints about these products and their issues are now at an all-time high, says an article at Time magazine.
Cosmetic manufacturers have no legal obligation to report problems with their product to the FDA. They don’t have to undergo a pre-market approval process. Regulators do not investigate the claims made about these products.
All of those steps are required of prescription drug manufacturers, for example.
What Makes Organic Shampoo Healthier?
Simple: it lacks the artificial ingredients found in traditional shampoo. Instead, it’s made with proteins, essential oils, vitamins, fruit extracts, and other naturally-occurring substances.
Organic shampoos don’t rinse and lather as well because they don’t have these artificial compounds. So, both simply take a little bit more work to do. But that’s the worst consequence of organic hair products.
3 More Benefits of Organic Hair Products
So, aside from the health and safety issue we’ve covered, why would you go organic with hair products?
Here’s the reasons most people make the transition:
They don’t damage your hair in any way. Organic shampoos don’t irritate or dry out your scalp. They don’t damage or dry out your hair itself. They leave it soft and gentle.
If you have colored hair, organic shampoos don’t strip away the color. In fact, they actually increase its radiance.
Organic shampoos contain all the natural vitamins and nutrients your hair needs to stay healthy and beautiful.
