Losing fat isn’t as miraculous and difficult-to-achieve as it first seems.
The reason many people don’t lose the fat they want is they look for quick, short-cut solutions, rather than overall lifestyle changes.
Truthfully, they don’t want to put in the work to change their bodies. They want a pill, secret workout, or exercise machine to do the work for them.
Those outside solutions actually do help you lose fat. But if that’s all you put your hope in, you’re bound for disappointment.
So how do you lose fat and keep it off forever? Here’s how:
1. Eat Healthy, Non-Fattening Foods
This is the foundation of success. Fail to do it, and anything else you do will be outweighed (literally) by how you eat.
Write down everything you eat in a day and week. Bit by bit, change those foods to something with much less fat and calories.
Fat loss, in a nutshell, simply means burning more calories than you consume.
2. Build Muscle Mass
Your body requires more energy to sustain muscular mass than it does fat.
Heavy strength training helps you keep the fat pounds off – permanently.
That means identifying exercises for all your major muscle groups, and doing 3-6 sets of 8-15 reps.
3. Fat-Burning Supplements
Ignore the ones you see heavily marketed. Those just lead to more trouble.
Yes, supplements help you burn fat. They don’t replace doing other healthy things for your body. But they can help.
Carnitine helps your body convert fat into energy.
Foods high in lean protein (chicken) and even whey protein can also assist in losing fat.
4. Fat-Burning Exercises
If you want exercises that burn fat, think cardio. Maybe not a pleasant thought at first, but, in addition to weightlifting to build muscle mass, nothing helps you burn fat like cardio.
Running, swimming, jumping rope, or your favorite cardio-heavy sport all do the trick.
To keep your consistency, figure out which form of cardio you like most. If you don’t like what you do, you’ll eventually burn out and quit. Or, you’ll be inconsistent.
For best results, keep your intensity high. That means you should not be able to talk easily between breaths.
5. Healthy Rest
Okay…nobody’s ever argued us on this one!
But it is true. And necessary. You lose fat best when you include healthy rest.
If you weightlift, your muscles also need the rest to recover.
When working out, generally your body needs 60-90 seconds of rest between each set.
You should work out 2-3 days consecutively, with 1 day of rest in between.
Can you lose weight forever?
Yes. You simply need the right plan and approach.
