Keeping Your Exercise Motivation During Fall
When the warm and sunny weather of summer begins to subside, and fall days start creeping in, many people experience decreased exercise motivation. This is such a common occurrence because:
It gets darker out earlier
The weather cools down faster
A lack of sunshine
We start getting all the delicious, more decadent fall foods in our minds
All these factors and more can decrease your motivation to continue exercising and doing any outdoor activities you did throughout the summer. However, just because summer is coming to an end, it doesn’t mean your exercise motivation needs to end.
There are plenty of simple and easy tips and tricks to help keep up your exercise motivation during the fall. Working out outdoors in the fall can be even more pleasant and exciting than in the summer.
Today we’re going to look at a few ways you can stay motivated to work out during the fall.
Go For Hikes, Especially When The Leaves Are Changing
In our opinion, there is no better time than going for scenic hikes than in the fall. In the fall, the temperatures are colder, so you will stay more comfortable out on moderate to advanced hikes. Hiking burns tons of calories because you are walking up and down a variety of different elevations. This gets your heart rate pumping more and also allows you to build more muscle.
The best time to go hiking in the fall is when your area experiences peak autumn color change. Throughout your entire hike, you will experience brilliant fall foliage and stunning colors. This helps distract you and allows you to take in the beauty of the environment around you.
Take Walks in The Park or Throughout Your Neighborhood as an Exercise Motivation Routine
If going for a hike in the Woods is not your Cup of tea, you can experience the fall colors and gorgeous scenery by just going through a walk in a local park or even around the neighborhood. Walking is a fantastic way to stay active and exercise. It requires no equipment other than shoes and your own feet. And if you are walking at home, you don’t even have to get in the car to drive anywhere, so it’s the ultimate convenient exercise.
Making Sure You Are Maintaining a Balanced Diet is Important To Maintain Exercise Motivation
Something you may not have thought of that directly correlates with exercise motivation is the diet you’re eating daily. Tons of fatty foods and lots of sugar every day are likely to make you experience uncomfortable body symptoms like bloating and upset stomach. Not to mention the fact that these types of foods will seriously deplete your energy levels.
Avoid low energy levels and the feeling of sluggishness, which will likely make you not want to exercise, by eating a healthier and balanced diet. When you eat better, your body feels better, and your energy levels increase. Your motivation to exercise and keep active will increase, and you will feel a significant difference overall.
Try Out a Variety of Fun Fall Activities Outdoors
If you were looking for some ways to remain active, but you don’t want it to feel like exercise, there are many outdoor activities to help you do this. If your exercise motivation is low, only moving your body in a way that feels good is sufficient:
Walking through a pumpkin patch
Picking apples at the Orchard
Walking various stores to find the perfect fall decor
Walking around with your kids while they’re trick or treating on Halloween
Exploring local fall fairs and farmers markets
All of these things will get you up and moving and exercising in a way that doesn’t feel like actual exercise.
Stick to a couple of these suggestions and reap the benefits!
